Our Approach

At Water Wombats, our methodology is grounded in evidence and centred on your child’s unique needs. We combine a trauma-informed, strength-based framework with individualised goals to ensure every participant thrives—both in the water and on land.
Evidence-Based, Trauma-Informed & Strength-Based
Our programs draw on best-practice research to:
-
Honour each child’s lived experience and safety needs
-
Build on existing strengths and foster new skills
-
Embed trauma-sensitive practices to promote trust and resilience
Individualised Support
Every child is matched with a key worker whose expertise aligns with their personal goals. To deepen learning and relationships, a secondary therapist is also assigned—ensuring continuity of care, fresh perspectives, and a supportive team environment.
Inclusive & Accessible
We accommodate a wide range of communication and support needs, including:
-
Therapists skilled in Auslan, PECS and AAC
-
Option for in-pool sessions with two therapists for children requiring extra support
-
Flexible scheduling and tailored session plans
-
Facilities accommodate wheelchair users with ramp and hoist access. Ambulant and gender neutral change facilities are also available at the pool.
